Our Story

Together Everyone Achieves More

In 1996, while employed by Natural Gas Corporation, Steve Baldwin saw the opportunity to buy Bayonne Construction, a one man outfit based in Rotorua. As the sole owner, the company started out in Steve’s garage with three staff but has evolved to occupy a large base in Te Rapa, Hamilton, employing over 100 people, as well as setting up a branch in Tauranga.

About one quarter of the staff have been at Bayonne for 10 years or more, and additional staff have joined on as the company has continued to grow. Originally, Bayonne largely focused on gas supply networks, but now concentrates most of its time delivering electricity distribution and telecommunication network installation.

At Bayonne, we are a close knit team and endeavour to maintain a culture where each employee is treated as part of an extended family. The company’s motto is TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) and has been built from the ground up on that basis.
