BAYONNE CONSTRUCTION

SAFETY FIRST

THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THE RIGHT JOB FOR A SAFE WORKPLACE

At Bayonne Construction, we prioritise the well-being and safety of our employees, clients, and fellow New Zealanders.

We want to see everyone go home to their family at the end of every workday unharmed and satisfied.

To maintain and continuously improve our safety programs, we have a dedicated Health & Safety and Quality Assurance team who are always working alongside our Senior Management Team to uphold the high internal and legislative standards we set for ourselves.

ROBUST HEALTH AND SAFETY WORK SYSTEM

Bayonne Construction has a comprehensive Health & Safety framework (policies, procedures, SOP’s, JSA’s and safe work methods).

Our Health & Safety management policies are deeply ingrained in our organisation and easily accessible to all staff members at any time.

EMPHASISING SAFETY THROUGH COMMUNICATION

To ensure that safety remains at the forefront of our operations we maintain a strong culture of communication when it comes to safety standards.

Safety is emphasised across the team through:

  • Daily and job start Toolbox meetings

  • Job planning sessions (Project Manager and crew)

  • Monthly small group ‘speed dating’ Health & Safety sessions

  • Monthly Health & Safety management meetings

  • Notice board

  • Incident meetings

  • Adhoc meetings and informal talks

COMPREHENSIVE SAFETY TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

Our extensive training programme starts the first day someone joins our team. This training equips our team with the knowledge and skills to maintain high levels of productivity while prioritising their own safety, the safety of our clients, and the safety of the public.

Within the first three months at Bayonne, every team member completes:

  • Bayonne induction and customer inductions

  • In-house competency assessments

  • NZTA license training (if required)

  • Comprehensive workplace first aid

  • Construct Safe

  • TTM Worker (basic traffic management)

Everyone also attends relevant NZQA-accredited training for their area of work including necessary refresher courses – some examples include the use of PPE, fire extinguisher use, and load-store and transport.

PREQUALIFICATIONS

We hold certification in several key industry prequalification with annual independent evaluations conducted by these organisations to ensure we are always operating above industry standards.
