BAYONNE CONSTRUCTION

OUR LEADERS

Steve Baldwin, Ceo of Bayonne Construction

STEVE BALDWIN

CEO
steve@bayonne.co.nz

Steve founded Bayonne Construction in 1996 when he saw the opportunity to develop a business built on honesty, relationships, and a strong team. These things all still apply at Bayonne!

Passionate about both the industry and the welfare of everyone at the company, Steve is committed to ensuring the success of Bayonne well into the future. He is proud of his team, a crew of industry leaders that has grown from three to over 100 since the early days of the 1990’s. Many have been around for more than a decade. Steve loves the culture at Bayonne, especially that everyone genuinely treats each other like extended family.

Now, as he starts to transition out of operational management, Steve is looking forward to spending more time with his wife Tanya who has also been an important part of the business.

Levi Kaa, General Manager of Bayonne Construction

LEVI KAA

GENERAL MANAGER
levi@bayonne.co.nz

Levi is an example of how a career can truly be established at Bayonne. He joined the team fresh out of school in 2011 and in his own words ‘took every opportunity’ to grow professionally. Initially a third man on drill crews, Levi has worked up through the ranks and shown he has a talent for safely getting the best out of his crews.

After over a decade as part of the Bayonne team, Levi uses his knowledge of the wider business on our Senior Leadership Team. He’s proud of the opportunities that have been offered to him and is committed to leading the way for others to achieve the same growth.

After work, Levi is into good food, a bit of sport and spending time with his family.

Adam Hopkins, Project Manager of Bayonne Construction

ADAM HOPKINS

PROJECT MANAGER
adam@bayonne.co.nz

With a significant drilling/civil career under his belt, Adam joined Bayonne in 2020 looking for a new professional challenge. Starting as a Junior Project Manager, he quickly proved himself and progressed to the Project Manager role.

As a problem-solving extraordinaire, Adam is now a key member of senior leadership. While he loves the challenge and work every day, Adam really appreciates the genuine team culture at Bayonne.

Outside of work, Adam loves a typical Kiwi lifestyle: spending time with his family and friends, enjoying a few beers, fishing, and the beach.

Jillinda Christenson, Health and Safety Manager of Bayonne Construction

JILLINDA CHRISTENSON

HEALTH AND SAFETY MANAGER
jillinda@bayonne.co.nz

Jillinda is passionate about making sure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day.

Initially joining the team as Senior Administrator, Jillinda’s main focus now as Health and Safety Manager is building and maintaining a fantastic health and safety culture at Bayonne. Getting the basics right and communicating well are both keys to this. These are things she is happy to report that Bayonne is committed to, and great at.

Jillinda really enjoys working with the wider team and evolving the health and safety practices to ensure the safety of all employees and clients every day.

A fan of a tropical holiday, especially Fiji, Jillinda also enjoys spending time with her partner and three cats outside of work.

Simon Malthus, Branch Manager of Bayonne Construction

SIMON MALTHUS

BRANCH MANAGER
simon@bayonne.co.nz

When Simon returned to New Zealand with over a decade of drilling industry experience, he was happy to join the Bayonne team in Tauranga.

With a natural ability to get on with pretty much anyone, and impressive knowledge of the industry, Simon has established fantastic relationships with Bayonne’s clients and the rest of the crew. The variety of projects and diversity of work continues to appeal to Simon, and he respects that the Bayonne team are all committed to helping each other out every day.

When not at work, Simon is most likely found with his family, tramping, or on the slopes snowboarding.

Jimmy Thomas, Project Manager of Bayonne Construction

JIMMY THOMAS

PROJECT MANAGER
jimmy@bayonne.co.nz

Jimmy has worked in the industry since 2011 and has been a part of the Bayonne team for most of that time. He’s a natural driller and gets a kick out of completing a challenging drill shot safely, on time, and on budget.

The people and the opportunities on offer at Bayonne keep Jimmy coming back as well as the variety of work. If you ask him, he’ll probably tell you he’s pretty honest and trustworthy – combine that with his high standards and enviable industry knowledge and you’ve got a fantastic Project Manager and team member.

Jimmy and his wife have a toddler, a lifestyle block, and a couple of dogs but he also manages to find time to work on his project car, head out fishing, and catch up with friends and family.

David Deen, Project Manager of Bayonne Construction

DAVID DEEN

PROJECT MANGER
david@bayonne.co.nz

After 15 years on the tools in civil construction, David joined Bayonne when he saw the opportunity to step up to the project management role. Rather than working in the field, David now applies his extensive industry knowledge to manage jobs from beginning to end.

David values the depth of the Bayonne team, knowing that with their size and experience, they can accommodate almost any job, often at short notice.

When he’s not at work there’s a good chance that you’ll find David hunting or fishing or spending time with family and friends.

Jomar Figuerres, Project Manager of Bayonne Construction

JOMAR FIGUERRES

PROJECT MANAGER
jomar@bayonne.co.nz

When he came to Bayonne in 2022 Jomar brought industry and supervisory experience from large-scale projects across the country. He quickly learned that team is a core aspect of the culture at Bayonne and was happy to integrate into the atmosphere where everyone is treated like extended family.

Acknowledging that no two days are the same, Jomar loves the variety offered by so many projects and job sites. He particularly enjoys operating with the team of project managers who are always happy to put their heads together to find the best approach or solution for any challenge.

Outside of work, Jomar likes to spend time with his family, and he’s a keen fisherman and traveller.
